Sometimes two inventory lines become offset and need to be corrected. A Work Order is used to make the correction, but building it from the Work Order screen isn’t always the best approach. Follow the steps below to build the Work Order from Inventory so the correct lines are adjusted.
Building the Work Order
Step one: find the inventory lines in Inventory.
Step two: verify the totals are correct by clicking the inventory ID number and confirming that the calculated on-hand total matches the on-hand number displayed.
If these don’t match, please contact support to correct the totals before moving on.
Step three: create a new Work Order for the first line to correct. Click the gear icon and, under Create a New Work Order, select the Work Order type (physical adjustment). The new Work Order is created with the current available quantity from inventory, so you can adjust it if necessary. Close the Work Order.
Reminder: a negative value adds to inventory. For example: -1 will add 1 unit.
Important to note: Always close the Work Order detail before adding the next line to avoid processing errors.
Step four: add each remaining line to the existing Work Order. Click the gear icon and use the search icon next to “Add to Work Order.” Select the open Work Order you created in step three. The line is created with the current available quantity for that inventory line, so adjust it if necessary.
If more lines need to be adjusted, close the Work Order and repeat step four until all lines have been added. Otherwise, move on to step five.
Important to note: always close the Work Order detail before adding the next line to avoid processing errors.
Step five: add notes to the work order and set a Work Order account, if applicable.
Step six: complete and then close the Work Order.
Step seven: verify that the inventory lines now show the correct on-hand quantities.
Offsetting Lines On Reports
Offsetting lines on the Inventory and Value report can be caused by individual line differences and by how the report sorts. If you see offsetting lines on either the Inventory and Value report or the Physical Inventory report, but the inventory itself shows correctly, please contact support. We’ll make sure that all line information is correct, including product name and details, warehouse, bin location, and lot.
