We are beginning to update all of our Seed System clients to FileMaker Server 2026. Now is the time to update the FileMaker Pro version on your computer and iPad to maintain compatibility with the updated server.
NOTE: All Seed System Solution users must install either FileMaker Pro 2025 (V22) or FileMaker Pro 2026 (V26) to maintain compatibility.
Checking Your Current Version
Open Seed System Solution and open the “Help” menu from your FileMaker Toolbar. Select “About FileMaker Pro.” The first line should show your Version number. If the version does not start with 26 or 22, you will need to update .

Updating to FileMaker Pro 2026
If Portage Bay Solutions has facilitated your FileMaker Pro license purchase, an Administrator user should have received an email from Portage Bay Solutions containing a document for installing FIleMaker Pro on your computer. Please make sure that installation is completed on a computer account with full administration rights or the installation will fail.
From the email, open the Installation Document. Open the link to your FileMaker Pro Installation Page and download the License Certificate.
NOTE: FileMaker 2026 requires a fresh License Certificate, so please do not skip this step.
Download the FileMaker Pro 2026 setup file. If previous versions of FileMaker were installed, please uninstall those versions and any current versions of the application “Bonjour” from your computer before continuing. If the setup file did not open automatically, then open it from your Finder window Downloads folder.
Go through the guided installation process. The installation should find your License Key from the License Certificate. If it does not, then select “Browse” and select the certificate from the correct download location. If you cannot find the certificate it is one of a few possibilities:
- You did not download it.
- You are not on an administrator account.
- You need to move it to a new location or select a different folder.
After installation is complete, you may be prompted to install “Bonjour.” Please continue with that installation process.
Accessing Seed System Solution
From the Seed System Solution Desktop Icon
In the same email from above, there should be a Seed System Solution .fmp12 file attached. Download this file and place it on your desktop. Double click on the file and you should be prompted to login with your username and password. Please accept the license agreement on the first login.
Setting Up a New Host
Open the FileMaker Pro 2026 application and accept the license agreement on the first login. Click on Favorites and select “Add New Favorite.” From “Host”, click the + to add a new host. Enter your IP or Host address provided to you in the installation instructions and click Save.
From the Favorites menu, select your file. Login using your Seed System Solution login credentials.
Local File On An In House Server
Open the FileMaker Pro 2026 application and accept the license agreement on the first login. Click on Favorites and select “Add New Favorite.”
From “Host”, on the left side find the “local” header. From the Favorites menu, select your file and login using your Seed System Solution login credentials.
